Hildegard

I have a brief little score out on a lovely Chinese Chess game for the iPhone! Also, five motets on texts by Hildegard.

Two part update today.

Xianqui iPhone Game

My good friend Louis-Nicholas Dozois has just released 'Xiangqui' for the iPhone - an attractive, lightweight Chinese Chess game. Louis was kind enough to invite me to do the background music. It was great fun to get off the beaten path a bit and do something more pop and atmospheric.

If you have an iPhone, you can pick up Xiangqui here. For two bucks, it's a great deal! If you don't, but you'd still like to listen to my little track, you can download the music here. (Note that it's meant to loop as you play, so it doesn't have an 'end' per se. Try it on loop!)

Choral Motets

Over the summer and into the fall, I worked on a series of five choral motets for my church choir. All five are settings of texts by Hildegard von Bingen. a major Sophianic visionary. We've only sung a couple of them (two coming up in Advent), but I think they produce a lovely choral sound. Hildegard's texts are gorgeous, perfect for setting. I don't have recordings yet, unfortunately, but if anyone is in a choir that would like to try something like this, let me know and I'll send you paper copies.

Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving...

Ben B.
