Home Programming Music Nerdery Ben's Postnuke Demo BBirney.com

BBirney.com

Hi! Welcome to my website. Please check out my wife's new site as well: www.hopsfineclothing.com.

My name is Ben Birney. As you can see, there are three things that I do: computer programming, music and things that are nerdy. Some crazy marketing people would say it's a bad idea to serve all three ideas on one website - but, fortunately, I can't be bothered to build three websites for myself. So, here we all are, together, under one big tent. I'm sure all the music theatre people will have a grand old time laughing at my feeble roleplaying antics, and the the programmers can ask themselves what that fruitcake is doing down in New York now.

It's a fair question, and one that I aim to answer with the fine hyperlinks above. (They're purple, so you can tell. I'm all about usability.)

Potential clients: enjoy my webpage, and also check out my improved PostNuke Demo - an example of all the wonderful things you can do with customizations to the PostNuke CMS, geared toward non-technical users.

New Music: World to Conquer

Like most "new music" I post here, this is actually some older work that I'm turning loose on the web. (All of my composition since 2005 has been for Paradise Lost.)

My first open source release

Well, I've been in the freelance web programming world full time for about a year now. It's been fun so far, though a heck of a lot of work. Oh well. I'm pleased to announce my first open source PostNuke module release - SurveyManager.

Feggin' robots

There is a very special place in Hell for spammers. I just had to do a global comment purge and deactivate the Comments module... of 1007 comments on the site, about 950 were robot spam. Even with account registration turned off they're...

Revenge of the Idiots: "I don't need to know XHTML"

11/09/2006 12:47 pm by bbirney (0 comments)

Some web programmers apparently think they don't need to know XHTML. These people are (and you will hear this word frequently in the following post) NITWITS. That's not an acronym, it's a pejorative.
